Internship
Degree:
Degree Not Required Ballyneal Golf Club has quickly become one of the top golf courses in America and has the potential of being one of the top clubs in the world. The staff at Ballyneal has been given a vision, along with a unique challenge: Provide a world renowned links golf experience while maintaining the property with environmental stewardship and limited inputs. In order to achieve this goal we are continually looking for a student staff worthy of the challenges set forth. We are recruiting students that possess a strong work ethic, solid morals, and a hunger to learn. Interns will be given the opportunity to train with a veteran staff managing a predominantly fine fescue golf course.
An interesting and challenging aspect of maintenance at Ballyneal is the opportunity to manage a fine fescue golf course in the high plains of arid Colorado. An essential component of our maintenance program is provide a unique golfing experience, similar only to the original links golf courses of Scotland and Ireland. With the appropriate student staff we will continue to achieve this goal. Student interns will be involved in, but not limited to:
- Daily mowing activities on all playing surfaces
- Hand irrigation of fine turf playing surfaces
- Proper calibration and application practices for fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Irrigation troubleshooting and repair
- Golf course improvement projects to enhance playability and aesthetics
- “Zone Management” – Student interns will have responsibility for daily maintenance and irrigation practices on zones consisting of three to six holes
