Waverley Country Club is seeking Turfgrass Management students for internships during the summer of 2014. As part of the internship experience at Waverley Country Club, you will be exposed to the following:

  • Equipment operation and maintenance
  • Calibration and application of fertilizer and plant protectants
  • Irrigation management and repairs
  • Daily Course set-up
  • Various cultural practices including aerification and topdressing

Waverley Country Club was established in 1896 and continues to be a highly regarded club in the Pacific Northwest. The Club was recognized in 2013 by the Oregon Golf Association as Facility of the Year. Waverley has recently undergone a restoration of the golf course with Architect Gil Hanse overseeing the project.  Projects that have taken place include: 

  • New Irrigation System
  • Extensive green expansion work and rebuilding of three entire putting surfaces
  • Reshaping and rebuilding of all 89 bunkers
  • Reconstruction of 80% of tee complexes
  • Replacement of drainage infrastructure and Greenshield drainage on five fairways

Compensation will start at $10.50/hr. All Hours in excess of 40 per week are paid at time and a half with the individual to expect 50-60 hr work weeks in peak season.  Furnished housing is provided at a nearby location but the intern is not required to stay at this location.  Uniforms and lunches will be provided.
