There are two minors offered by the Department of Horticulture:

Horticulture Minor

HORT 112. Introduction to Horticultural Systems, Practices and Careers (2 credits)
HORT 301. The Biology of Horticulture (3 credits)  

Plus 22 additional credits in horticulture, including at least 10 upper division credits.
Course selection must be approved by the horticulture academic advisor.
Total=27 credits

Turf and Landscape Management Minor

CSS 205. Soil Science (4 credits)
HORT 112. Introduction to Horticultural Systems, Practices and Careers (2 credits)
HORT 301. The Biology of Horticulture (3 credits)

HORT 314. Principles of Turfgrass Maintenance (4 credits)

HORT 418. Golf Course Maintenance (4 credits)

Landscape Focus  
Select two courses from the following:
HORT 226. Landscape Plant Materials (4 credits)
HORT 228. Landscape Plant Materials (4 credits)
HORT 255. Herbaceous Ornamental Plant Materials (3 credits)

Select 10 to 11 credits from the following, to total a minimum of 27 credits:
HORT 285. Permaculture Design and Theory (3 credits)
HORT 314. Principles of Turfgrass Maintenance (4 credits)
HORT 315. Principles and Practices of Landscape Maintenance (4 credits)
HORT 318. Applied Ecology of Managed Ecosystems (3 credits)
HORT 358. Landscape Construction Techniques (4 credits)
HORT 360. Landscape Construction: Irrigation and Drainage (4 credits)
HORT 380. Advanced Landscape Design Studio (3 credits)
Total Credits= 27-28

Before you begin taking courses, contact the horticulture academic advisor. Some courses which are required for a horticulture major may not count toward a minor. Individual courses may not count toward more than one minor. You must receive a grade of C- or better in all horticulture courses taken to complete the minor.
