POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for implementing new product strategies across all markets and regions according to the company’ strategic plan. Ensures successful new product launch coordination.

ORGANIZATIONAL FIT
The New Products position reports to the Director of Sales and works closely with department managers and committees to coordinate efforts.

JOB SETTING
Office setting. Domestic and international travel required. Travel includes overnight stays.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)
 Implements the strategy for the commercialization of new products in accordance with the
Company’s vision and strategic plan.
 Acts as a liaison between R&D, sales, production, finance, legal and marketing for successful
product launches.
 Acts as an administrator for new business initiatives in support of the Director of Sales.
 Responsible for having a working knowledge of the variety pipeline and their commercial
viable for our various markets.
 Responsible for generating proposals, reports, forecasts, and other materials necessary for
all stages of introducing new products.
 Develops and implements hand-off systems between departments for the new products
launches.
 Responsible for presenting new product commercialization recommendations to the
Executive Team.
 Collaborates with the committee to formulate and recommend product positioning
strategies.
 Responsible for reviewing the sales forecast and ensuring the latest information regarding
the product launches are accurate.
 Acts as the primary resource for new products information for marketing purposes (variety
information, R&D photography, names).
 Ensures that the “marketing recipe” and preview plants are in the sales/production forecast
and that all necessary varieties are covered. Reports inconsistencies in a timely manner.
 Oversees some New Product accounts during their launch phase that have an
R&D/trialing/licensing option component.
 Reviews new product sales invoices and shipments for accuracy.

 Collaborates with the IP Legal department to communicate license and contract needs along with labeling and trademarks in the US and abroad.
 Maintains the master variety lists.
 Manages Gantts of all new products and their potential launch timing.
 Oversees the successful implementation of the variety naming process.
 Represents the Company at trade shows, industry meetings and related events.
 Supports, perpetuates and enhances Fall Creek’s core values and corporate culture.
 Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters concerning the nursery.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
1. Typically requires a Bachelors of Science degree in Horticulture or related field.
2. Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a horticultural product manager or technical
representative. Experience working with new products, production scheduling and/or trialing with fruit and/or ornamental crops. Understanding of the global market for fruit and/or ornamental crops preferred.
3. Proven ability to understand strengths and weaknesses of products and competitor products in particular segments.
4. Experience with brand management preferably with fruit and/or ornamental crops.
5. Experience in project management.
6. Proficient with MS Office products. Knowledge of databases and project management
software.
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information in
formal and informal settings to peers, customers and industry leaders.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strict attention to detail and
prioritization.
9. Able to understand complex business and political relationships.
10. Able to work as part of a team with internal departments and with other professionals in
the industry. Strong collaboration skills.
11. Requires good judgment and the ability to positively influence team decision making and
operations.
12. Ability to develop clear action plans and drive processes with many interdependencies.
13. Requires a valid Oregon driver’s license and the ability to maintain a valid license plus an
acceptable (insurable) driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
14. Must demonstrate professional and ethical business practices, adherence to company
values, and a commitment to personal and professional development.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with new product launches or branding strategies.
2. Experience creating and maintaining Gantt charts.
3. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
4. Basic understanding of intellectual property, licensing, and royalty administration.
