VegNet Regional Pest Trends for the Week of July 25th, 2016

  • Corn Earworm (Helicoverpa zea - CEW) trap counts are quite variable between sites, which affects the regional average. Nevertheless, we are almost certainly approaching ‘peak activity time’ for CEW. Fields should be monitored closely.
  • Cabbage Looper (Trichoplusia ni - CL) has boomed this week, and since counts have been elevated all year, risk of contamination (pupae in heads) is high.
