VegNet Regional Pest Trends for the Week of Septmeber 26th, 2016

  • Be aware that Cabbage Root Flies (Delia radicum – CRF) are in the midst of their fall flight, as evidenced by pan trap samples this week. CRF eggs quickly hatch into destructive maggots that tunnel into roots and increase the potential for development of blackleg and other pathogens.
  • Diamondback Moth (Plutella xylostella - DBM) activity remains above average, and we recommend continued scouting. DBM adults move from harvested fields into weedy refuge sites, where they can overwinter.
