Special Consumer Message about SWD

Spotted wing Drosophila is a new arrival to Oregon, but can be controlled using agronomically acceptable management strategies. Growers and researchers are working together to identify the most effective strategies. It is not anticipated that consumer products will be compromised as a result of the introduction of SWD. As with all fruit and vegetables, it is a good idea to wash your produce before consumption to remove dust, pesticide residues, or other unwanted surface contaminants. Consumers should be confident that Oregon fruit remains high quality and wholesome.
