About the authors

Dr. Jennifer Parke is an Associate Professor (Senior Research) in the Departments of Crop and Soil Science and Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University, Corvallis.  She is a plant pathologist specializing in Phytophthora diseases on woody ornamentals and forest trees, and soil microbial ecology.

Dr. Jay Pscheidt is a Professor and Extension Plant Pathology Specialist in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University, Corvallis.  He develops applied diagnostic and control programs for plant diseases of tree fruits, nuts, berries, grapes, ornamentals/nursery, Christmas trees and turf.

Richard Regan is an Associate Professor and Extension Horticulturalist in the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University, Corvallis.  He specializes in nursery crop production.

Jan P. Hedberg is the Oregon Department of Agriculture, Nursery and Christmas Tree Inspection Program Lead Horticulturist.  He has worked in the Oregon nursery industry for over 35 years, 30 of them with the ODA.  He helps to coordinate the field activities of 14 ODA horticulturists and for the last five years has taken the lead in implementing the USDA Confirmed Nursery Protocol in Oregon nurseries found with Phytophthora ramorum infected plants.  He has been a member of the National Plant Board's Phytophthora ramorum Working Group, the Working Group's High Risk Protocol Subcommittee, and was the National Plant Board's Carl E. Carlton award winner for 2006.

Dr. Niklaus Grunwald is a Research Plant Pathologist at the U.S.D.A.-Agricultural Research Service Horticultural Crops Research Laboratory in Corvallis, Oregon.  He specializes in Phytophthora biology and management in nursery crops and ornamentals.
